On Thursday, October 6th, SAP, Boston area education and employer leaders, as well as area non-profits, and other elites came together to drive opportunities in the US technology field for the leaders of tomorrow. As part of this exciting event, two panels were hosted to prepare the future workforce for careers in technology. The first panel, "Above the STEM: The Next Frontier in Tech Education," featured a panel of influential leaders and brought expertise from the education section, discussing youth culture, tech education, and the future of work. The second panel, "WANTED: Tomorrow's Tech Superstars", featured a panel of leading global corporations discussing best practices in securing the technology workforce of the future and why top corporations in the sector have committed to developing a youth talent pipeline.
In addition to the panels, the evening highlighted SAP's partnership with the Pathways to Prosperity team at Jobs for the Future. Through the partnership, C-Town Tech was launched, a new early college high school in Boston. Students earn college credit in high school while on a path to earn an Associate's Degree in Information Technology with opportunities to begin a career or transition on to a university. With more than 600,000 jobs available today in the US technology field, there has never been a more important time than the present, to generate a workforce that has the proper skills and educational training.
