XI or BI

Hi There,

in a dilema about thi! I'm looking for a career change but to something where I can still use my existing skills(Portals, J2EE, HTMLB, Web Dynpro, Web Technologies...). I'm thinking about XI or BI. I prefer the technical side of SAP so not sure which one is best for me. Please help...

Hi,

XI is more about migration of technologies in SAP and BI is a data warehouse thing. In XI u need ABAP n JAVA knwledge.

Hi,

I think if u have sm basic understanding of ABAP den u can work on XI. Its not like u have to be a gud ABAPer for dat.

Hi Raj G

XI is configuration part. It has some scenarios like FILE TO FILE, FILE TO IDOC, FILE TO JDBC, PROXY TO PROXY, HTTP TO SOAP...etc.

ABAP is useful when u come across FILE TO IDOC or IDOC TO FILE, PROXY TO PROXY.

Here u should be familiar with IDoc t/codes like

WE02/05/09 - T/codes for seeing IDocs

WE21 - PORT definition

WE20 - partner profile

& so on...

For PROXY TO PROXY u should be familiar with OO ABAP.

Coming to BI , it is advanced BW where loading is done & which requires less/no coding.

ABAP + BI is good both oppurtunity as well as career wise.
