Recently I came across a blog post by denys.kempen on GCP Certifications (https://blogs.sap.com/2019/11/07/get-certified-google-cloud-platform/) and it made me think which GCP Certification would be apt to pursue for someone who is a SAP Developer having 7+ years of experience? Would appreciate if anyone can provide some recommendations.
Hi Satadru,
Good question!
Google offers several certifications targeted towards specific developer profiles like Android, mobile, or TensorFlow
This may be of interest for an SAP developer also interested in mobile development or machine learning. For an ABAP profile, the learning curve will be steep and maybe amount more to a career switch.
Specifically for the Google Cloud Platform there is also a certification about Google App Engine (GAE)
About the origins of GAE, Cloud Foundry and the other PaaS solutions, see
Now, if Google Trends are any prediction, the hyperscaler PaaS solutions are less in demand these days
in particular when compared to anything Kubernetes...
For SAP's PaaS, recently rebranded to SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), the focus today is on extending and integrating SAP (and non-SAP) business applications. The actual application runtime being either Cloud Foundry (CF) or Kubernetes-based Kyma (with CF slowly morphing with Kubernetes).
Both for the SAP Extension Suite and the SAP Integration Suite SAP offers certifications, which may also "extend" the expertise of an SAP ABAP developer with a manageable learning curve.
Should you prefer to venture a bit outside the world of SAP, you could also consider the certification from the Linux Foundation / Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) of which SAP is a member.
Or the less popular but equally fun CFCD, also from the Linux Foundation
Hopes this provides some insights.

Thanks Denys.
For technical profiles (BASIS), you might find the Azure for SAP Workloads certification of interest
Google does not (yet) offer a certification in this domain.
