Hi gaurav,
As you have said you have experience of SAP BASIS, then why you want to go for functional as BASIS is a technical.
I mean to say that you can switch over to functional but FICO is nothing about BASIS.
You can switch over to FICO.
I suggest follow the FICO forum which is available in SCN.

Hello Gaurav,
How long you are working in BASIS? If you are already well settled in BASIS, I would suggest to explore more options with in BASIS.
What is your motive to shift your path? Is it just the money/onsite opportunities you are looking for?
If yes, the decision might not be accurate as these things depends on many factors like company, project, luck etc. I feel, every module is equally good. World is so big and options are unlimited.
But, if you are desperately interested in FICO area and passionate about it, you can start preparing with finance basics then slowly move on to SAP FICO. I am also like you. I shifted from ABAP to FICO.
But, my motive was/is/would be passion in FICO area
There are couple of nice blogs published by in Career center. Have a glance at them so that you get some idea.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the reply.
I am having 3 year of experience in SAP basis, but it is of all the support projects nothing implemented yet.
@Vinod as i said i want to pursue MBA and need global experience.
I am in a good company, but not lucky enough to have a good project.I am already looking for a change in much better company. But all those company require some implementation experience which i don't have.
Idea for FICO is to get something additional to my career profile and for better opportunity.
If anything additional can be done in Basis too, please let me know.
Thanks & Regards,
Gaurav

for learning SAP FI you should have basic knowledge of Accounting Rules...
If you are learning FI from some good institute, then will teach you these basic knowledge also.
So if you are quite manageable to two things at a time then you can start your FI training with MBA.
And Notes and Study material is already available on the internet.
