Is this a valid statement? if zcl_orb_serial=>is_serialized

We are wondering why we can't use the boolean attribute in this static method.

if zcl_orb_serial=>is_serialized( im_werks = im_plant im_matnr = im_charact-matnr )

= 'X'.

Anyone have an idea why not? Can you use an If statement in combination with boolean operator?

I marked it as answered as I could not get the subject line to update and therefore logged second issue. Do not see how to close the messge. WIll look at Admin / Rules to see how to do this. At this point both messages are set to Answered.
