Proud LGBTQIA+ Allies Arundhati Kanungo and Utkarsh Jain Sankhla conducted the first ever virtual LGBTQIA+ Inclusion session for all SAP employees on June 3, 2020 on account of PRIDE month.

The session was engaging and interactive with an open honest candid conversation. Over an hour, discussions revolved around the topics of what is LGBTQIA+, why it is important, if it is a preferential treatment, what can be done by each individual to promote and live an inclusive diversity, personal experiences and lot more.

The session was attended by 40+ employees from all entities - Labs India, Ariba, Concur, Fieldglass, SDC, Callidus Cloud across locations (Bangalore, Gurgaon, Pune and Mumbai). The facilitators were happy to end the session on a high with a very positive feedback where participants wanted more such sessions in future. Quoting few direct feedback below:

Despite of me being already aware and supportive of Pride topic, there were many new things for me to learn in today’s session. I was able to understand new terms like Expression and what Q stands for. Also, it was great to hear other participant’s perspective of challenges of the community and its Allies. Such sessions are very important as small steps in our effort towards equality of genders. Moderators were very passionate about the topic which made the session very lively and conducive for exchange of thoughts.

Great conversation, eye-opener almost felt like an awakening. I shudder to the life of a queer person who has to fight so many battles just for acceptance, that people let them live their life.

- Vishalakshi Khizhakhe, Ally, SAP Labs India

With these small steps, SAP aims to be the most inclusive software company on the planet. Let's all join hands and live the fact of diversity through a proud inclusion!

HAPPY PRIDE ALL!
