Hi,

The main difference is WAS, in XI it was WAS 6.40 but in PI it is WAS 7.0 and one more is XI is a Part of Netweaver 2004 but PI is a Part of Netweaver 2004s.

HI,

XI 3.0 is a part of NW2004 and PI 7.0 ( Process Integration) is a part of NW2004s.

The main difference between XI 3.0 and PI 7.0 is the GUI in SLD. But, it is pretty easy to adopt. All other components, e.g. IR, ID, RWB, should virtually be identical.

hi,

SAP Netweaver XI 3.0 is based on WEB AS 6.40(SAP Netweaver 2004)

SAP Netweaver PI7.0 is based on WEB AS 7.0(SAP Netweaver 2004s)

For each SP of XI 3.0 a similar release is being made in 2004s too

A comparision of the service packs in 2004 and 2004s;

in 2004 - in 2004s 5.5

SP12 & < - SP04

SP13 + 14 - SP05

SP15 - SP06

SP16 - SP07

SP17 - SP08

SP18 - SP09

There is no f'nal difference between XI 3.0 and PI 7.0. In order to bring all netweaver releases on par with each other , SAP released / renamed XI as PI and it is a part of NW04s

For every release of PI 7.0, there is a parallel Support Pack on XI.

SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (SAP NetWeaver PI) is used as follows:

● The architecture of SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 is based on an established architecture for realizing cross-system business processes, and is a further development of lower releases (SAP NetWeaver 7.0 usage type Process Integration and SAP XI 3.0 as part of SAP NetWeaver 2004).

● SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 plays an important role in supporting an enterprise service-oriented architecture (Enterprise SOA). The focus is on the service-based integration of applications.

Hi,

PI is nothing but Process Integration. As XI is represented in the Process Integration layer of the Netweaver Stack, it is now PI.

There is no difference between XI 3.0 and PI 7.0. In order to bring all Netweaver releases in line with each other, SAP has released XI as PI. Now it is a part of NetWeaver 2004s.

Hi Krishna,

This thread would definatly helps you out in getting idea on the differences between XI and PI (Both technically and feature wise)..One major difference is that PI comes with a ESOA capabilities, Where as XI doesnot support UDDIs and all.

Thanks,

Kopparaju.
