Workflow triggering via Portal ESS does not work (Leave Request)

Hello,

we are using ECC 6.0. and EP7.0 with ESS BP 1.0.

We are using the ESS leave request application

The iView for leave request approval in the EP works well, I can send a leave request and the portal says everything is ok.

However, when I control this via SWI1 no workflow has been created.

We use the standard SAP workflow 12300111.

Due to the fact that we are in a release upgrade phase and the upgrade takes part next weekend it would be very helpful if anyone can send me an answer or idea to this.

The workflow has been activated and everything in the backend seems to be ok.

Thanks in advance,

Svenja Schüler

Hi

Setting Up and Maintaining ESS Users Without Central User Administration

Purpose

You can also create ESS users when Central User Administration is not active. However, several steps are different to the recommended standard procedure.

Prerequisites

You are familiar with the individual steps of the recommended standard procedure. Only the differences between this procedure and the standard procedure are described here.

The composite role Employee Self-Service (SAP_WP_EMPLOYEE) is located on the mySAP.com Workplace System.

The composite role Employee Self-Service (Core) (SAP_EMPLOYEE) is located in an HR system.

The necessary single roles are located in all other participating (non-HR) systems, for example, Business-to-Business Procurement. See the role documentation in the SAP Library to find out which single roles this includes.

You have copied the roles and changed them to fit your requirements if necessary. You work on your copies.

Roles for Employee Self-Service

The composite role Employee Self-Service (SAP_WP_EMPLOYEE) contains all international and country-specific single roles provided for Employee Self-Service.

The composite role Employee Self-Service (Core) (SAP_EMPLOYEE) only contains the core Employee Self-Service functions.

For more information, see the role documentation in the SAP Library.

Process Flow

In contrast to the standard procedure, you first create the users or the assignments only in the HR system using transaction HRUSER. You must use the composite role for the HR system instead of the composite role in the mySAP.com Workplace System.

You create the appropriate users in the user maintenance transaction (SU01) on the mySAP.com Workplace System and assign the mySAP.com Workplace System composite role to them.

You create users in all other participating systems in the same way and assign the appropriate single role(s).

The user names and passwords of an employee in the various participating systems should be identical.

Result

Your employees now have the users, menu, and all authorizations necessary for Employee Self-Service.

I had this same problem before. My issue was linked to structural authorisations (linked to the org chart). There was a bug that made it LOOK like the leave request had created however in fact an authorisation block had prevented it from creating and going any further (with no error message presented to user). Once I asked the security team to investigate, the problem was resolved.
