You can use executables dpmon or gwmon to monitor the work processes, gateway. In situations SM50/SM66 is not responding you can use dpmon, gwmon to trace out the work process blocking the systems.

If you are interested in setting the monitoring for the system work processes, please use external tools like Tivoli (CCMS), BMC, HP Open view…, or

SAP solution manager for alerting.

Hope this helps.

Thank you,

You may use the glance utility if you are using HP Unix.You may also run ps -ef for Solaris.

However, monitoring these two processes is not really necessary since they restart automatically.

Only in case of emergencies these need to be checked. You can do that in the MMC on Windows and by checking the ms.xxx and es.xxx processes on *NIX.

The log files are just in the work directory.

Hi Arun

There are few Transaction code which will help you to monitor different process, following are defined in down:-

SM50 = Process Overview

SM51 = SAP Servers Overview

SM66 Global Work Process Overview

SMGW Gateway monitor

Hi Arun,

There are two processes msg_server.exe and gwrd.exe which can be seen in your task manager if you are in Windows env. Also, if you open your SAP MMC, you can view the message_server.exe which should always be green.

Hi Arun,

You can monitor work processes (ENQ, DIA, BTC, etc...) using SM50 and SM51, and you can monitor the sap gateway using SMGW.

Hope this help!
