Why are some answers sometimes displayed with blue or yellow background?

I'm used to the green background of "accepted" answers, but besides that, all questions and answers have been displayed with a neutral (white) background so far, AFAIK.

However, in the last days (probably after the forum software has been updated lately) I have noticed that some answers are displayed with a blue or yellow background (as can be seen below). I have the impression that the next time I view those answers they are displayed as usual.

What exactly is the meaning of those colour effects?

Based on Graeme's answer: Here's one test answer on my own question - which won't be accepted:)

When I'm logged in, it is displayed with a blue background (q.e.d). YMMV:)

No, I'm wrong, it's displayed in yellow...

Ah, and once I reload the page, it's displayed in blue.

So "yellow" might just be a transient state for "new answers" to my own questions? - No, that cannot be true as the "yellow" answer shown in the current question was not on a question of my own... Still puzzled:)

I think you might be right - the yellow is some sort of transitional thing. If I go to my user page and click on an answer that is not accepted, the page comes up with the answer in yellow, as in "here's the answer you just clicked on". If I refresh the page, the answer is no longer yellow.

Yes, it might work that way - and it is apparently not dependent on the login - i.e. if I go to your user page and navigate to one of your not accepted answers, it is shown in yellow, too.

It seems to work similarily when navigating from the "Recent activities" page.

Probably I just ought to be happy with all these nice colours and should not rack my brains over their meaning:)

Answers with a green background are accepted. Answers with a yellow background (as seen above) are those that you have just added, or those which you are seeing because you clicked a link directly to that answer. I believe that blue ones are (non-accepted) answers posted by the person who asked the question.

Hm, I still does not get the display logic: The answer I had cited in the question is now displayed with a white background for me, so your stated rule does not really fit here.

The blue rule seems to apply as stated, as far as I could check that, at least as long as I have displayed the page at least twice...
