What's Connection Server's role when processing Webi Query

BOE Version: 11.5.7.608. When querying in Webi report panel, met error: "An internal error occurred while calling the 'processDPCommands' API. (Error: WIS 30270)

I added -trace in WI Report Server command line and found the following info in WIReportServer_20080811_03.log:

151668 4353 trace message: TraceLog: [ENTER] UNV_Manager:LoadDBInfo

[Mon Aug 11 05:33:32 2008] 151668 4353 assert failure: (TraceLog.cpp:1646). (false : TraceLog: **ERROR:UNV_Manager:Catch exception thrown by ConnectionServer [UNV_Manager.cpp;1450]).

[Mon Aug 11 05:33:32 2008] 151668 4353 trace message: TraceLog: [EXIT] UNV_Manager:LoadDBInfo: 0

[Mon Aug 11 05:33:32 2008] 151668 4353 (TraceLog.cpp:1648): trace message: TraceLog: **WARNING:QT_LocalServer:Failed to load the DB info from the PRM file [QTLocalServer.cpp;1556]

I remember I can stop the Connection Server if I only using Webi report, why still found the Connection Server info in Webi trace?

Thanks in advance!

Jennie

While the WebiRS (Web Intelligence Report Server) contains the connection server libraries required to connect to the databse, the Connection Server runs inproc(i.e. in-process which means that the (connection) server will be located in a DLL, and loaded into the same process/address space ) as part of the WebiRS.

The connection server/service is used for deski 3-tier to connect and send queries to the DB. It has no role in webi. Srinivas has the proper explanation for what you are seeing in your trace logs.
