What is hardware solution for very large HANA database size for S/4 HANA application?

Hi experts,

I have a question regarding hardware solution for a very large HANA database as following:

1) Requirement:

- The application is S/4 HANA

- The size of transactional data for HANA database is expected very large about 60TB or even larger for next few years

2) Question:

As I know currently the biggest single Intel-based server for HANA database is limited to 24TB RAM memory. This means that it can hold only 12TB of transactional data (about half of total RAM memory). So for scale-out solution with 3 worker nodes it can support only 36 TB data.

- What is hardware solution for such large HANA database size?

- Could HANA Native Storage Extension help in this case? By using NSE for each node, can this cluster support more than 36TB transactional data to meet the 60TB requirement?

Thank you.

Along with the Intel Sapphire Rapids processor release, SAP has certified scale-up solutions for S/4HANA for up to 32TB, in addition to 2X 32TB nodes in a 64TB scale-out approach. As another alternative with Intel Sapphire Rapids you could also scale out with 3X 24TB nodes. As far as I know, any SAP support for scaling beyond 32TB in a single node will be left to the discretion of SAP, despite hardware capabilities that exceed 32TB in a single server.
