We're trying to reduce the memory footprint of a couple of our landscapes, and we found that the "d+w user bss" area takes up over 80% of the memory used in each work process. Why is it such a large part of each work process? Is there any way to reduce the size of this area, by a user parameter or otherwise?
Thanks very much.
Which is the operating system in use?
We need to be careful with which command we use to check the memory usage of the work processes, as some commands include the shared memory areas (memory areas that are used by all the work processes at the same time). "ps" could be misleading, for example.
You can refer to this WIKI page for more details.
Please keep in mind that each work process will use about 100MB - 300MB (depending on the SAP kernel release) just to be "alive" and running, and there is no way to reduce this size.
