Quite often the Index Adds statistic has no apparent explanation: high values when nothing is going on, and non-zero values for connections that never perform any inserts, updates or deletes.
All versions of SQL Anywhere exhibit this behavior.
If memory serves (it often doesn't) this behavior is not version specific 🙂
