Hi there,

I just read this thread, and maybe someone here can answer my current trex question:

I have created an ordinary CM repository, and created an index with this repository as source. Now the problem: I would like to exclude files in the repository with specific mimetypes from the TREX indexing process.

I have verified that the TrexValidMimetypes.ini does not contain any reference to the Mimetypes I'm creating, but never the less, the document titles are searchable and are returned when searching.

How do I get around this issue?

Is it possible in NW04 or EP6.0 SP3 PXXX??

Hco

In EP 6.0 SP2 before patch 5, use an HTML Extractor in the repository manager configuration to exclude files. You can use regular expressions. In NetWeaver 04 and EP 6.0 Patch 5, you can use the new Resource Filters under Global Services configuration (they are much easier to use).

Hi Larry,

That sounds good. Though I was wondering - is it possible to use a HTML Extractor on a ordinary CM repository??

Hello,

we have a lot SAP Applications (CRM, eSales, BW, KW, Portal, …) which uses the TREX . At the Moment we have for every Application an own TREX Server, so we have over 12 TREX Server. Now, I would like to ask, if it is possible that we can have with TREX 6.1 only one TREX Server.

Thank you,

Ingo

Yes, you can have had one server before 6.1 as well. The issue is mainly of performance. If you scale the 6.1 with large multiple servers and spread out the work load, you should be able to reduce the total number of servers. This is a document "Scaling TREX" on SDN that you should find helpful in this regard. When I looked I see the documents but not one specifically for 6.1 but I'll ask my TREX contacts in Germany and then I will add to this post. Meanwhile the others should help especially TREX 6.0.

There is a guide coming out with the TREX 6.1 unrestricted shipment. Send me your email address at larry.brambrut@sap.com and I will send it to you.

Hello,

I would like to ask whether TREX has an option to use

another application's search engine or not? For example,

if I want to search cnn.com site, will TREX reindex the

web repository defined for that site or it can be

configured to use cnn's search engine?

I think it's called extended or federated crawler in

other search engines. Not sure about that.

Thank you,

Yuri

Yes TREX can index any website that has been identified to the CM framework. That means you simply configure a web repository manager in Content Management and then you can index the site.

TREX can also send search requests to other search engines, then consolidate the results with its own research results and show this on one page. This the federated search example.

Hello Larry,

That "federated search" you mentioned - where I can

find a documentation about?

Thank you,

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sapportals.km.docs/documents/a1-8-4/devel... a search component for km search iview.article

Also, just search for "federated search" on SDN.
