WebIDE does not load in HANA Express VM

Former Member

I recently downloaded the SAP HANA Express Edition, the full server option with apps.

I updated the /etc/hosts file with the IP address of VM hxehost

When i try to access the Web IDE

https://hxehost:53075

This site can’t be reached

hxehost refused to connect.

i am using the URL as returned by the xs app webide -urls

https://hxehost:53075

I am able to-

1. Get the information xs apps

2. Launch http://hxehost:8000/ which shows XS Engine is up and running

If for some reason; the Web IDE from the VM does not work;

is there an option to connect the personal edition (on-premise/local) of Web IDE to VM XSA services?

Thanks,

Kapil

Hi all,

Please make sure /etc/hosts file has the correct IP address. Use the IP address in bold below from the output of /sbin/ifconfig.

hxeadm@hxehost:/usr/sap/HXE/HDB00> /sbin/ifconfig

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0C:29:E3:BD:35

inet addr:10.125.7.236 Bcast:10.125.7.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

Try to ping to this address. If you cannot ping to this address, there might be some firewall between your laptop and VM.

Thanks,

Karuna.

Can you telnet the and/or ping the hxehost?

ping hxehost
telnet hxehost 53075

I did the same installation and it works fine, but as I remember I had to be a bit patient at the beginning.

I guess the local Web IDE will not work if you are talking about the HCP one. This Web IDE is based on Eclipse Orion while the HANA Web IDE is based on Eclipse Che

I had the same problem,

After reboot the web ide didn't load.

It took more then 2 hours, after that it manage to load.

I have 16GB on my machine running the VM.

One reason for the problem might be, that space enablement was not performed. Need to use di-space-ebablement. This made the trick for me.

Yes, sometimes it does not want to start and I wait an hour even it is Dell Precision 32 GB RAM with 8 processors and 24 GB allocated to this virtual machine.

With the help of a colleague in Brazil I solved the issue.

Please close all tabs in the browser and just use one tab with the WebIDE. Logon with user XSA_DEV.

If this does not work, try another browser i.e. Chrome.

Another option could be to restart the webIDE with "xs restart webide" (see comment above from Jayanth)

All,

I am having the same issue. WebIDE for HANA is listed as STARTED, but I get "connection refused" from the server.

Any solutions in the meantime?

I am using CAL based HANA Express Edition on Amazon Web Services.

I successfully opened the HANA Cockpit on this system, the Web-based development workbenche, XS Admin, XSA Admin, HANA Runtime Tools!

But WebIDE for HANA does not work, although the app is listed as "STARTED".

Have you tried restarting just the WebIDE application? Try running

"xs restart webide"

We are having the same issues - HANA Express Edition 2.0 SPS2 on Amazon Web Services provisioned through CAL.

We tried restarting the webide, restarted HDB, restarted Linux.... it was working fine yesterday but it stopped working. The disk space is not an issue.

Jay

Hello,

I have somewhat similar issue with WEB-ide on HAna express 1.2 running on WM-ware . As a background, I already managed to get everything working and proceed with tutorials. After reboot of workstation (and WM-Ware environments of cource) my setup stopped working. I have tried with IE11 and Chrome Version 56.0.2924.87 and they behave slightly diffrent way. In chrome hxehost:53075 just play "Tips&Tricks" page first after login and then screen gets blank. On IE, screen just stays on "LoadingSAP Web IDE for SAP HANA". I have restarted webide (xs restart webide) and HANA (HDB stop/start). No diffrence. Also WM-ware restarted. BAsed on Eclipse Studio, HANA services are running. Also Runtime Tools at hxehost:51018 works.

Any ideas to next steps..?

Hi all,

Kapil, did you manage to connect to the Web IDE? - I'm having a similar issue with a HANA Express installation on Azure.

When I look at the output of xs apps, I see the webide app is started. The app's URL is pointing to https://vhcalhxedb:53075 and not to my specific hxehost (is this default?)

Helmut, where exactly did you have to be patient, could you please elaborate on this?

Thanks

Hi Marcel,

Patience is needed because hxehost takes a few minutes to bring up webide. When it is 0/1 the webide is still loading and not ready for service, wait a few minutes upon booting up until webide is both STARTED and 1/1 then retry the http://hxeide:53075 to log in.
