Hi

We have made changes in BeX query and these changes are not reflected in webi reports. The change is add some new variables to the query. and chnage existing variable.I follow the below process Instead of doing changes the existing query they take back up the query and did changes there provide another technical name.so in data tab we select destination and select the new technical name.

But it is giving the error when i try to map the error is like unable to connect the server.webipluin, web session from server after that webi server failed. Any body suggest me how it possible this strange behaviour. webi is not possible to refelct the changes after the bex query is updated. I follow the steps given but no use finally webi server fail.It is taking more work horus and panic each time the report doing from scratch after BEX changes. Finally report corrupted and webi server failed when we try to open the report.. I am using BOXIR4 SP15

Please suggest.

Hello Madu Kumar,

If the WEbi report is built on the BEx query and the changes are made to the BEx query, you will have to refresh the universe so that the changes are reflected int he universe.

If you want to point your report to different connection, go to the edit query in WEBi and point the connection to the new universe and map the fields.

Hi Madu,

sorry but I don't understand what you say with

"Finally webi report corruted.when we try to open the report it is nt opening parllely webi server failed"

are you telling us that after applying the changes the document got corrupt and crashes the webi Processing Server?

if this is the case, be sure to be on latest patch level and test again, if problem persists please open a support message because there is something wrong

thanks

Hi madu,

I just reread your initial problem and I am a little bit confused. Please correct me if I am wrong:

  1. you created bex report 1
  2. you created webi report on bex report 1
  3. you changed variables in bex report 1 and saved as bex report 2
  4. you want to connect webi report to bex report 2

If this is the case, then I don't think that you are able to change connection from your webi report to another "universe" / connection.

If someone else knows how to change connection on existing webi report please help.

You can change a WebI report's data source (BICS or UNX or UNV)

  1. Open the report in WebI Rich Client
  2. Change it to Design or Data Mode
  3. Under the Data Access tab, select the "Tools" tab
  4. Click "Change Source"
  5. Select the query you want to change the data source of
  6. Select the radio button for "Specify a new data source"
  7. Navigate to the new data source
  8. Then follow the wizard which will include object mapping

I believe the steps are the same, or very similar in WebI Rich Internet Application via BI LaunchPad as well.

If this is a BICS connection to a BEx query, you'll need to create the new connection prior to going through these steps.

I would also recommend making a back-up of the report before changing it's data source, just in case!

Hope that helps,

Carly

Hi Carly,

You are totally right, I overlooked the functionality of changing sources.

Hi Madu,

go to CMC, select connections, on the right top select refresh

or alternatively

go to CMD, select connections, select your particular connection, on the right top select refresh.

this did the trick for me.

Hi James,

Thanks for your response.Your trick is not working for mewhe n we add a new object but not working when we change variable (prompt in BEX Query) and giving the same error.

We did changes in BEX Query variable (prompts),After refresh it giving the error and immeditly server failed.

Please suggest

Hi Madu,

Can you please check whether all servers are up and running?

Another thing, in the CMC, go to OLAP connections, go to your particular connection, choose edit connection then try to connect to your query via "connect to server to choose a cube"

If this still doesn't work, can you paste or send the error details?
