Hi Jenni

VA - Visual Administrator is majorly used by Netweaver Consultants - portal and also used by PI (XI) consultants etc., for managing Java components

VA is a dos based Java GUI tool and available in your /usr/sap/../j2ee/admin directory --> go.bat is the file you execute under windows (go.sh in Unix)

You should have J2EE_ADMIN password (normally) to access and modify parameters and activate/ deploy services here, You can set up JCo Connections here . In general it also it helps remote monitoring and management of managers,services,libraries and interfaces working on each Java server instances
