Hi:
Currently, in SEM BPS, If you have to change the variable values,, You have to go to the BPS0 transaction then change area and then Variable Tab to change the global variables.
Since we do not want users to have access to transaction BPS0 ( to avoid deletion by mistake), Is there a way to provide a custom front-end or something where user can go and change global variables withhout going through transaction BPS0.
has anybody done this?
Thanks
Hi Sunil,
There is a white paper on how to update variable values with a custom transaction. Look under service.sap.com/bi for the paper. Let me know if you can't find it.

Hope it helps.

Hi Sunil,
there is no other transaction than BPS0 to maintain such variables directly.
Normally it is a good idea, to use a separate custom table for the values of the global variables. The variables should get their values by an exit from that table.
Yor can build your own transaction/program to maintain this table or use the standard SM31.
The other advantage of this approach is, that you can propagate variables in different planning areas with the same value. The values need to be maintained only once.
Kind regards
Thomas
