User should change only Language through portal personalization in Masthead

Hi,

We have a requirement where in user should be able to change the portal language after he logs into portal.

I am aware this can be done by the enabling the personalization option on MASTHEAD. But in the personolization view only Userprofile should be visible and not any other options like Portal Theme , Usermapping and work protectmode.

In user profile also only general information tab should be visible and not any other tabs.

Pls guide how to customize this standard portal content. The portal objects involved for changing are Portal Personalization and User profile. Pls explain how to remove unwanted tabs in User profile object.

Bharat,

The first and the foremost thing is to make a copy of the Standard Role and not to change the SAP shipped content.

It is located under PCD->Every User->Standard Portal Users->Standard User Role.

Once you have a copy of this role. Delete all the Home workset available.

Then you are left with only the Portal Personalization workset. Since you want to delete

Portal Theme , Usermapping and work protectmode

do that so under this workset. This will leave you with the only option of User Profile.

Should you want to make changes to user profile, trace the delta link and get going.

Hi sandeep,

Thanks for the inputs, but i have already have this approach till finding user profile object. Now i would like to modify even user profile (i guess its a WD iview) where in i need to delete all the tabs and keep only GENERAL INFORMATION which will make have only "USER Language " dropdown option. Pls let me know how to proceed on this.

Also if the user changes some other language will the whole content of the folder change to that language or only few standard content. Pls elaborate on this as well.

Hi Bharath,

yes the user profile iview is a Webdyn iview. If you want to do any change then I think you need to change the DynPro Application in NWDS (copy and save the original one for future releases) and deploy back to portal.

On language change in personalize changes the language for portal. The portal page u'll get in that language. Chnage it to some other language and look the page. But the options (tabs) under user profile would not change.
