Uploading InfoProvider Documents

we are migrating data from a sql-server to SAP BW. In sql-server long texts/descriptions were entered by the user, which were stored in fields within tables.

Within SAP BW I cannot use Characteristics to keep documentation, and would like to, therefore, use the document management for InfoProviders.

However, I do not see a possibility to upload large numbers of texts. I have an Excel document with the project, fiscal period, and text, and would like to import these texts by dynamically reading the project and fiscal period to assign these to the properties of the document, and then read the text as the document.

Does anybody know of a way to mass-upload documents?

there exists an How-to on this topic:

In the paper it is described for transactional data but it should work similar for what you are looking for.

Hello sVenJa,

How r u ?

You can load the Long Texts from SQL to BW, check these

Also, you could create Views on SQL itself for splitting the Long Texts so the performance could be maintained in BW. Check the idea of this in the Comments area of this blog,

Thanks for your help.

However, as the Texts in the SQL Server can be up to 1500 I would need 25 InfoObjects to put this method into working order, which seems a little too much.

I gather there is no way to upload more than one document as an infoprovider document as part of standard SAP BW methodology then?
