Upgrading MAM 2.0 to MAM 2.5

Hi,

Last week I upgraded the MAM 2.0 to MAM 2.5. I installed the latest Package Support in my middleware (SP13), and follow the upgrade documentation for MAM 2.5. But when I deploy the MAM 2.5 on the mobile device I can only see the USER VIEW MANAGER option. MAM 2.0 since to be working fine with all the options available.

I contacted the people responsible for the backend system and they ensure me that their system is updated for MAM 2.5. Any help will be appreciated.

Hmm, then this seems to be a bckend related issue. It means that MI did not find any data for your user to download to the device. Unfortunately, I have no clue about MAM customizing, sorry & cheers,

Thanks...

I also think this is backend related. The device mobile shows several exceptions indicating that the data needed from the backend to show all the features is getting NULL. The same thing happened with MAM 2.0 and was due to authorizations issues in the backend. But right now MAM 2.0 is working properly.

Thanks again. At least I know that it is not something from my side, and I need to escalate to the people on the backend.

Jose,

You have to refer to the MAM 2.5 Business Scenario Configuration guide to set up / customize the backend as well.

You will need to enable the MAM SyncBO and run them as background jobs to pull data from the backend.

For MAM25_090 and MAM25_095 SyncBOs are required to be running as background jobs. In this way, the client will be able to download the customizing from the backend and you get more menu links besides the user view manager link.

You can also refer to the Best Practice guide for Mobility in MI section in sDN. It details the setup for a MAM application.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your response.

These was done for MAM 2.0, do we need to do it again for MAM 2.5?

In the Configuration Guide for MAM 2.5 indicates that we need the PI2004.1 to upgrade to MAM 2.5 if we already have MAM 2.0. Right now, the backend people are installing the latest Support Package for PI.

Jose,

Yes, you need to do it again.

As far as I know, the SyncBO definitions for MAM 2.5 are different from that of MAM 2.0. You need to schedule new background jobs on the middleware (WebAS).

For the backend profiles/scenario, you can stay with the same one or create new ones.

OK, so in addition to importing, generation, and replication of the Synch BO's, I also need to create the background jobs for them in middleware?

Maybe that is what is missing since I didn't see that in the upgrade documentation.

Thanks...

It seems that it was backend related. They did install the latest Support Package on the backend system. Then I followed the upgrade procedure and got everything. Thanks both for you support.

Hi, after setting up the client with MAM 2.5 , can you perform a synchronization ? With this synchronization, the client should send a request for data download to the middleware SP13. Do you see any action in merep_mon transaction on the middleware after this sync ?

cheers , Stefan

Yes I can synchronize without any problem. I can see something in the MEREP_MON in the colums I-FINISHED, O-WAITING, and O-SENT. In the data I see this:

STRUCT_ID RTN

STRVERS 0001

SYNC_KEY 0000000000

CORR_TOP_CNTR 0000000000

RESPTYPE S

TYPE S

ID MEREP_01

NUMBER 176

MESSAGE No Download data from R/3 found in downloader

TIMESTAMP 0000000000000000000
