Hello,

All you do is open the report in CR 2020 and save it, that updates it to the 64 bit version.

Since CR 2020 is now 64 bit it will require a 64 bit DB Client to be used. Depending on the Data source it's simple to do.

For example, if the reports are based on an ODBC Connection simply create the same 32 bit DSN in the 64 bit ODBC Admin tool.

If the reports are based on PC type data, Access, Excel, CSV etc. then you'll need to find a 64 bit version of the native client, usually you can install a 64 bit version of Office and it should work.

If not then the work around is to use an ODBC connection to the data using a 64 bit client.

Note: there are only 3 ways to update the RPT file, use Save or Save As in CR Designer, Using the SDK, export to RPT format or edit the report in the Embedded Report Designer in Visual Studio

Is there something you are specifically worried about when upgrading?

The major difference between Crystal 2016 and 2020 is that 2016 is 32-bit and 2020 is 64-bit. So, you need to make sure that you have the 64-bit versions of your database drivers installed and, if you're using ODBC, that you create 64-bit versions of the ODBC DSNs. These can have the same name as the corresponding 32-bit DSN.

Once the 64-bit connections are configured, you don't have to do anything in the reports themselves to get them to work in 2020. When you open a 2016 report in 2020, you can just save the report to upgrade it. I wouldn't worry about upgrading all reports at once - just save them as you need to.
