Updating 1 field in Master Data

Former Member

The situation is as follows, there is a Master Data infoobject A with 17 fields (InfoObjects), which get updated every day. Out of those 17 fields, 1 field is a marker that states whether the master data row is valid or invalid (for our reporting needs). I want to be able to have a data load with only 2 fields, the key field, and the marker field, to update just that marker field in the master data table. Is that possible, or since I have transfer rules already designed to update ALL 17 fields, I have to provide information to the other fields as well?

Thanks,

Hi Angel,

Using the same Source System you should codify the transfer rules (create a routine for each field) in order to update the field or not according to any value that differentiates the source file (like InfoPackage name). I guess that this would be high cost and quite difficult to implement.

A workaround to your case would be creating a 2nd Source System (type flat file) assign the new Source System to the Master Data and create a new Transfer Rules where just 2 fields are updated. The InfoPackage related to this new Source System would get data from a file with only 2 fields as you described.

Hope it helps,

Andreu

Hi,

you can also create a new datasource (may be a generic one containing the required fields) and assign it to your infoobject. In the transfer rules map the fields to the corresponding infoobjects. That's it.

Better might be to create a flexible InfoSource and just mark the fields you don't want updated to "No Update".
