Update mode in RSA7(delta queue)

When i click one item in the delta queue to see the detail, i find there is two options to select. The default opion is ' delta update' and the other is 'delta repetition'.

I think there are two versions data saved in delta queue. One is to be delta updated that displayed as we select 'delta update' option. The other is the last delta updated to be saved to make REPEAT DELTA available.

Could any expert give me advice for my opinion. Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Yes, correct. When a data load of delta InfoPackage fails, and then you run the delta InfoPackage again, it actually reads data of option2 (last delta + new delta). However, this is done by the system automatically, you don't need to do any switching manually.

Hi,

Your understanding is basically correct.

Option1 delta update: store new and changed data in the source system since the last delta request which will be transfered to BI with the next delta request.

Option2 delta repetition: contain data in option 1(new and changed since last delta) as well as data from previous delta request so that all required delta data records can be re-tansfered to BI in case an error occurs.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks Qing.

That you mean the option1 selection stores new delta data, the option2 selection stores new and last delta data. If error occurs, you can switch the option from the first to second, then you load data in bw side and also can update all data as well as option1 in common condition.Am i right?

Hi,

RSA7 always stores "delta" and "repeat of last delta" records.

Suppose you have started a load in BW and it is not successful due to one or other reason. Then you will request the repeat of last delta i.e. nothing but the records which you requestes in failed delta. (as you will start a load in BW, the delta records of RSA7 will become "repeat of last delta" records and delta part will start getting new records. These delta records will be there in delta part untill you start a new request in BW, then these records will replace the existing "repeat of last delta" records).

You can read OSS Note "380078 - FAQ: BW delta queue (RSA7): Questions and answers" which will provide you more information about this.

Hope it clears your doubt.
