Hello All,

Is it possible to undo compression on a cube. I am trying to delete a request that has been compressed but BW doesn't seem to allow this.

Thanks,

George

As mentioned, you can't delete a request once it is compressed. Selective deletion may work depending on your data. If you can define query selection criteria that you are 100% sure identifies just the rows you want to delete, you can go that route.

Otherwise it looks like you are reloading.

If your data is in loaded into an ODS from the PSA and then loaded into the cube, you can delete the data from the cube and re-load the cube from the ODS. When re-loading the cube choose the option INITIALISE WITH DELTAS.

If you do not have an ODS then your only option is to load the PSA's to the cube, but be very careful as suggested previously.

at this point your only option may be to delete all the records, and try to reconstruct from PSA. but make sure that you will be able to reconstruct first before deleting... you can check this when you see all green in your recontruct tab when you manage data targets.

Hi George,

You cannot delete by request ID once you have compressed a request. But if you need to remove some data from the cube and (unfortunately?) it has been compressed, you can use the selective delete function. Please be careful while doing so as it is not possible to get the selectively deleted data back.

Hope this helps...

George,

you can't do it !

As indicated in SAP Help, this function is critical, as the compressed data can no longer be deleted from the InfoCube using its request IDs. You must be absolutely certain that the data loaded into the InfoCube is correct before doing this task!
