Unable to connect to BW3.5(IDES) from EP6.0

Hi All,

I am trying to establish connection to our BW system (IDES, BW3.5 NW04) from EP6.0.9. I have done the following as per procedure.

- Creating BW system

- Setting Usermgmt (UIDPW and admin, user)

- User mapping also done

Connection tests for connector works fine but fails for WAS.

Test Details:

The test consists of the following steps:

1. Check that the system object defines an SAP system

2. Validate the following parameters: wap.WAS.protocol; wap.WAS.hostname

3. Check the HTTP/S connection to the defined backend application

Results

1. The system object represents an SAP system.

2. The following parameters are valid: wap.WAS.protocol (http) ; wap.WAS.hostname

(bwserver.<xxx>.com:8001)

3. HTTP/S connection failed. Make sure the protocol, host name, and user mapping are correctly defined.

P.S: I have verified the WAS hostname and port from the 'sicm' tcode.

WAS PATH: /sap/bw/bex

Can someone please tell me where it went wrong?

Thanks

Sathish

Hi Sathish

when u perform WAS Connection test than it's perform both

http and http/s connection to WAS it's only give u that

HTTP/S connection failed. Make sure the protocol, host name, and user mapping are correctly defined

becoz u did not use HTTPS protocol for WAS

don't worry about that. if the connection test perform HTTP/S connection than it's always failed. ( u don't use HTTPS protocol for WAS)

further look at following.

Hi Kaushal,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I have a sandbox where WAS6.40 running and I could able to perform the same connection test for WAS and it was successful.

I applied the same procedure for connecting to WAS on ides machine.

From your reply I understand that the connection fail error could be due to https connection? right!!!!. Does it mean my http connection to WAS successful???.

I am doing the 'connector' and 'WAS' config for the BW system in order to create iViews for BW reports. My understanding that BW reports are being served from WAS only and hence I must have http connection to be established from the portal to WAS.

Please clarify!!

Thanks

Hi Satish

Ya probebly u can't use HTTPS protocol for WAS connection than it's failed.

if possible create a new system alias for WAS system. no need to perform user mapping for WAS connection test.

if it's still failed.

do one thing create a one BW query iview which is running from the WAS. perform user mapping for system and test the iview. if ur connection is working than u get the result, if it's not working it's through the error.

Kaushal,

Basically my iview on BW report is working using same system alias (whic is common for connector and WAS properties)

However, I am not sure why connection test for WAS still fails!!!

Thanks

Hi,

Try accessing the WAS from the browser

http://BW server:port/sap/bw/BEx? If this works then you should be able to create BW iviews from portal.
