Unable to access iView through browser.

I created an iView for a transaction code and associated the same to a Page in the Enterprise Portal.

Now, when I am trying to access this page ( iView ) through browser from a system on which the SAP GUI is not installed, it is showing me a dialog box asking to SAVE the file "tx.sapssd".

On the other hand when I am atrying to access the same page (iView) through browser from a system on which SAP GUI is installed the iView shows the screen of the respective transaction code.

My question is - Do we need to have SAP GUI installed on the system for accessing R3 through EP (Internet browser).

According to OSS 901949, the SAPgui needs to be installed on the machine trying to access the iView:

Hi,

Please check out this wiki link for How to Connect to SAP R3 System through Enterprise Portal 7.0 Using an iView:

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/ep/how%2bto%2bconnect%2bto%2bsap%2br3%2bsystem%2b....

Also please check this blog for Steps for quick installation and usage of SAP GUI for JAVA in EP

From above mentioned blog:

SAP transactions / applications can be accessed using Java Gui as a stand alone application as well via web through browser. In EP Create a SAP Transaction IView and select JAVAGUI as SAP GUI type for presenting screen in JAVA GUI.

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Mona
