Hello,

We are planning a BOE installation.

Is it recommended to have a development and productive server for BOE?

I appreciate your input.

It is recomended to have 3

Dev, QA, Prod.

Some go as far as 4 adding Sand Box environment to play with all the new patches/service packs

Hi,

it should be at least the same amount as the Datasource(s) you are using.

So if you have f.e. an three- tier Environment in your BW Landscape, i would recommend a three- tier Environment as well for BI4.

Hi Maria,

As Denis It is always recommended to have a Sandbox to play around latest releases.

I Have worked in a very small environment where in which everything is maintained in a single environment. If you have very small environment could be <100 users and<50 reports, just for easier manageability You can have a separate folder for each environment and manage the BI Content underneath.

The downside of this approach is that the concept of promotion management is void here and the same report in all these environments (ID) will vary.
