Thanks much Vijay.

So I didn't do http server setup and this could be the missing link. I remember during the install it asked me IIS http server setup.

Can I use Apache as http sever as I am comfortable with this? Can you point to right location to setup with Apache?

HI

i am sorry as i havent work with apache server.

i think u can configure trex http server extension with apache server.

we are using MS IIS.

u can refer to this link to configure TCP/IP communication between the Java client and the TREX servers.

Hello,

I did install TREX. I also setup TREX Java client through Visual Admin. Now is that enough for TREX setup if we want to use this in our Portal Application search. Does this means TREX is integrated and we can use this in Search box available in Portal toolbar. My main confusion is that how to test make sure it is working and use it live.

Also,

1. Is it mandatory to have Portal and TREX in two different machine? I have it in one machine only. Is it a problem?

2. I setup a nameser using Visual admin. Do I need to install and setup httpserver also to make it work with Portal?

I have also setup done as mentioned above but need to have some guide or pointer on sdn where I find how to use this and search available for pages developed in PCD and Web Page Composer.

Jaish

Hi! Jaish!

First you need to check that Httpserver have been installed on the TREX server, this service its the anchor beetween Portal, Java Applications, and Trex Server, one proof is check this URL

http://<YOUR SERVER>:30005/TREXHttpServer/TREXISAPIExt.dll?CMD=PING

if this doesnt work, check this thread https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=53149 to configure HttpServer... or search more information about Trex HttpServer

Then you need what others has said to you... set the nameserver on portal machine, using visual administration.

Hope its help.

Hi

To communicate portal with TREX, the individual TREX servers and their parameters must be registered with the TREX Java client

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/46/cea63beb7e2708e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm

For detailed explanation u please have a look at service.sap.com where u can find master guides

Vijay.
