I am looking for a transport strategy for BOE landscape from security viewpoint. Basically we want to transport crystal reports, webi reports and folders along with security principles (BW roles/users included). Can anybody provide more info on this?

Hi,
Just was wondering if there was a resolution to the question brought up regarding whether or not there is some type of pointer change when migrating security from DEV to QA. I am also running into this same problem such that after I have imported the BW role into BOBJ, I then want to migrate that BW role or BOBJ group from DEV to QA, however when I do that, the BWD100/RoleA is moved to QA as BWD100/RoleA instead of BWQ~100/RoleA. We are currently on BOE XI 3.1.
If there is not a pointer change option, does this then mean that the security will have to be done separately in each BOE system?
Thanks,
Peter

A solution / workaround to this problem is to create aggregate BO usergroups that handles the BO security (folder access, program access etc) and assign 1 or more BW roles to the BO usergroup. That means you can transport the BO groups, but you will have to import BW roles and assign them to the group in each BO system. Also note that (atleast 4.0 SP5) you have to have users in the BW roles in order to import them to BO. That the role exists in BW is not enough.

Ola
