Hi all ,

I am trying to configure Webdynpro based ESS and I need to create a cystem for my webdynpro

system ( my portal and webdynpro is in the same J2ee Engine ) . What I had done so far is

1. System Landscape Editor -> New > R/3 Dedicated server .

2. From the property editor I have selected WAS ( Web Application Server)

3. I have given following parameters

Host - ssptest:50000

path - /webdynpro/dispatcher/

protocol - http

4. I have also set the user mapping and system alias .

BUt when I have tested the connection , it is gving follwing error .

Test Connection with Connector - Jan 1, 1970 11:40:16 AM

Test Details:

The test consists of the following steps:

1. Retrieve the default alias of the system

2. Check the connection to the backend application using the connector defined in this system object

Results

Retrieval of default alias successful

Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct.

My questions are

1. Is there any thing missing ?

2. When Portal and webdynpro is installed in the same J2ee engine , is there any configurations

needed in the Visual admin -> Configuration -> webdynpro ( there I find some place holders for

host , port etc )

Can anybody help me on this ?

Thanks

Aneez

Hi karsten ,

That was a mistake . My actual error trace is below .

SAP Web AS Connection - Jan 1, 1970 10:34:45 AM

Test Details:

The test consists of the following steps:

1. Check that the system object defines an SAP system

2. Validate the following parameters: wap.WAS.protocol; wap.WAS.hostname

3. Check the HTTP/S connection to the defined backend application

Results

1. The system object represents an SAP system.

2. The following parameters are valid: wap.WAS.protocol (http) ; wap.WAS.hostname (ssptest.CAROLINATURKEYS.COM:50000)

3. HTTP/S connection failed. Make sure the protocol, host name, and user mapping are correctly defined.

Could you pls help

Thanks

Rajeev ,

I dont know whether this webdynpro is using SAP_LocalSystem . But when I have tried http://ssptest:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcwdeptests/TestUMEApp ..it is working perfect .

or Let me know how to check the local system what you have mentioned .

Hi Aneez,

again: the connection test for connectors tries to establish a jco connection to a r/3 system. This is not necessary for integrating your web dynpro iviews...

hi ,

THanks for the answers . I just wanted to create a system object , which points to my webdynpro system . As the guide says ...

"Even if the Webdynpro application is deployed into the same J2ee Engine , you have to maintain the system object for Webdynpro application "

A part of My service file under the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc is shown below .

directplaysrvr 47624/udp #Direct Play Server

sapdp01 3201/tcp # SAP System Dispatcher Port

sapdp01s 4701/tcp # SAP System Dispatcher Security Port

sapgw01 3301/tcp # SAP System Gateway Port

sapgw00 3300/tcp # SAP System Gateway Port

sapgw01s 4801/tcp # SAP System Gateway Security Port

sapgw00 3300/tcp # SAP System Gateway Port

sapgw00s 4800/tcp # SAP System Gateway Security Port

sapmsDV1 3600/tcp # SAP System Message Port

sapmsEPD 3601/tcp # SAP System Message Port

The second last entry ( sapmsDV1 ) have added for my R3 connection and is working fine .

I guess sapmsEPD is my WAS .Any clue what else needs to to do beacuse still the connection is failing

PLs note : I have already added my Web AS Java and Web AS Abap in to my SLD

THanks

Hi Aneez

Try creating your webdynpro iviews with the default system "SAP_LocalSystem".

Check whether it is working.

Hi Aneez,

It seems to me a permission problem. You need to get in to to the Sys Admin > System Configuration > System Landscape > Right Click on the System you created and select a option for permission.

Select the user with which you are trying to test the connection and give that user proper permission and check the End user option.

Also verify that the user with you are trying to test connection has proper user mapping with the system you created.

I hope this helps !!

Hi Aneez,

I already answered the same question in the Content Development forum. Please avoid double-posts in future.

Thx and regards,

System definition consists of two components.

1) Simple SAP R/3 connection using application server and its server port or DP. You gave the dedicated system, you can use application server.

2) WebAS: WebAs connection is based on the WAS Host Name which also includes the port number & WAS Protocol. Make sure the domain of this server matching with the domain of SAP R/3 server.

3) UserManagement should have Logon Method as SAPLogonTicket.

Make sure Portal server services file has entry for SAP system you are referring. This includes tcp port number.

services file is located at C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc.
