Tailored Automated Recommendations for SAP Notes - SYSTEM Recommendation App

Hello,

we followed configuration steps to enable System Recommendations: Setup in SAP Solution Manager 7.2 and enable for certain SAP NW ABAP systems with assumption that app will only display notes that are relevant based on satellite system version as name suggested  "Tailored Automated Recommendations" but it simply dumps the whole list of notes which are even not applicable to that particular system.

example: in case we have K1P which is ECC (ABAP) system if we check in system recommendation app it still display old notes from DIGITS which are not even relevant to the current SAP_BASIS component or Kernel we have in that system currently.

having said that is our assumptions incorrect or did we PERSON_NAME any setup as we ensured that managed system config to that K1P system is correct and LMDB also has latest information.

please find attached screen

thanks

Dear customer,

Greetings from SAP Support.

There are two possible reasons that System recommendations is showing non-relevant kernel notes or notes that were already applied.

1.Outdated kernel information in SLD/LMDB

2.Notes with Validity "This document is not restricted to a software component or software component version".

Therefore please check as following:

  1. The kernel information for the managed system should be synchronized into LMDB. Use notes 1867494 and 1717846 for kernel registration (KernelReg for all technical instances) in SLD. Then ensure that SLD-LMDB resync is carried out so the kernel info is available in LMDB for the managed systems.

  2. If the System Recommendations continues showing notes already applied, check these explanations for this behavior below.
  • Release Independent Notes
    Examples: SAP Notes 1616535, 1593885
You could see the following text in the note link
    Validity
"This document is not restricted to a software component or software component version"
This is called release independent note.
SysRec is a tool based on the software component/support package for the managed system in LMDB to calculate the note. If the installed support package is in the range of the SAP Note's correction instruction, then it is called "Support Package &1 Related". You could implement with SNOTE. If the installed software component in the valitidy of the SAP Note, then it is called "Support Package Independent".
But for security note / hotnews, there are also some notes without any software component and support package. These notes cannot be analyzed. If they are not shown and may be relevant to your system, you would have the security gap. So in order to let you not miss any these notes, they just shown as "Release Independent Notes". Then you could decide whether you need to check whether relevant or not.
You will also find the statement in the bottom of Note:
SAP provides this CVSS base score as an estimate of the risk posed by the issue reported in this note. This estimate does not take into account your own system configuration or operational environment. It is not intended to replace any risk assessments you are advised to conduct when deciding on the applicability or priority of this SAP Security Note.
