Hi,

We are planing for a system copy from PRD to DEV. As dev team develop so many objects, and it has version database as well. We want to keep this version database as well after system copy. Is there any special methods for copying PRD data to DEV in this scenario?

I appreciate if anybody can provide information?

Thanks,

Kris

Please have a look at SAP Note#130906 which describes how to migrate the versions from a system that is to be refreshed.

Hi,

while ur doing system copy its for refresh the sap system forbetter performance , but you should not do system copy to PRD to DEV, its possible u can do PRD to QUA bez DEV is a domain controller.

Thanks

Hi,

it doesn't help you now, but maybe in the future ...

Please set in your STMS transport tool parameters VERS_AT_IMP = ALWAYS for the PRD system. If the parameter has the value 'ALWAYS', the system generates a version of every imported object in version management. This version has the number of the imported request. After the system copy you do not have to copy the versions manually.

Hi,

I assume that you wish to copy master data and user master only.

if yes, it is not possibe.

here is the documentation of profile list you can choose for system copy (taken from SAP documentation) :

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/99/0a2a887e2511d2a6250000e82deaaa/content.htm

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_NW70EHP1/helpdata/en/c2/17e73a86e99c77e10000000a114084/content.htm

SAP provide tools called SAP TDMS (Test Data Migration System) that afaik allows you to copy data accross client (or system) and specify certain period. Say you have 2TB data, but you only wish to copy data the last 3 month with specific data only.

a brief description of SAP TDMS :

http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/TDMS/TestDataMigration+Server

you may look at another thread here :

hope it help you.
