Hi,
We are planning to migrate from Sybase 15.0.2 (x86) to Sybase 15.5 (x64). The application server we are using is a windows (x86) server. In this server we are using ODBC driver to connect sybase.
My doubt is,
(1) Will the x86 ODBC driver can be used to connect x64 Sybase database server
(2) If not, will the x64 ODBC driver support windows x86 machine.
I know that windows x64 machine will support all x86 applications but here the case is reverse.
Please help.
Also, please let me know what are the other points to be noted for migration.
Our os is Linux
Thanks in advance.
Regards, Naeem Ejaz.
This is a forum for questions about SQL Anywhere -- not ASE. That said, I see no reason whatsoever why a 32-bit application and ODBC driver wouldn't work on an x64 system or to talk to an x64 system. ASE simply communicates over a TCPIP link -- it is agnostic to bitness.
I can tell you that no 64-bit ODBC driver will run on a 32-bit platform. That's just a processor and/or OS limitation.
