Hi All,
We are planning to do DB migration from SQL Server to ASE.
Source (old Server)
OS:Win 2003
DB: SQL Server 2005
APP: ECC 6.0
Target System(New Server)
OS: Windows 2012
DB: ASE 16
APP: ECC6 EHP 8
We are planning to upgrade using SUM DMO with System Move.
But as per the SUM central note OS should be Windows 2012 or higher if target SAP_BASIS is 750 or above.
With SUM DMO with system move option Import (DB migration) will run on new server, So it will comply the OS prerequisite for target SAP_BASIS 750.
Is this correct or any other approach? Please suggest.
Thanks in advance
Hi Suresh,
As per SUM DMO Note 2631152 - Database Migration Option (DMO) of SUM 2.0 SP03, source db needs to be at MS SQL 2005 if target system is on NW Basis 7.50 and MS SQL 2012 if the target NW system is NW Basis 7.51. On the other hand, you will need NW Basis 7.5x for support of ECC/ERP 6.08 (per SAP Note 1554717 - SYB: Planning information for SAP on ASE)
As such SUM DMO would be the advisable approach - but please determine the target NW Basis release based on the source db version.
Thanks,
