SPS update effect

Hi,

We are running SAP ECC 6.0 EHP4 as backend system with SAP Enterprise Portal Netweaver 7.0 EHP1.

We are using Win7 as operating system, IE8 browser support and SAP GUI 7.20 patch level 5.

We plan to upgrade browser support to IE9. As describe in PAM we need to upgrade SAP EP to SPS09.

But, will SAP EP SPS level update affect the BP and XSS package level so that we need to deploy them in another level?

We also have SAP GUI for Windows function, do we need to update the SAP GUI patch level?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

you should be aware that more BP content consists of "just" iViews that point an application running at the backend. If your BP is Web Dynpro ABAP based ESS/MSS you'll also have to make sure that your backend system supports IE9.

Hi,

In general the Enterprise Portal version should be greater than or equal

to the backend version. But if you want to use the ESS and MSS business

packages then they have special requirements which will be documented

along with these packages.

Kindly refer to this document

So, as long as we don't upgrade back-end version, we don't need to do anything in SAP ECC although we upgrade SAP EP to SPS09.

Am I correct?
