Hi, in my investigation as to whether SAP Cloud Platform mobile services (SCPms) supports Oauth2 as an IDP and whether is supports a restful json api instead of OData as an external source or is capable of converting it.
I came across a document on "SAP Cloud Platform mobile services for Development and Operations".
I note that the "Fiori for iOS" also says it now uses "SAP Cloud Platform mobile services for Development and Operations". rather than SCPms.
Question 1: is this the new name for SCPms. Or a new product offering ? Or just marketing speak for DevOps !
Question 2: The document mentions "The SAP Cloud Platform integration service OData provisioning capability supports REST, OData, and SOAP data sources". Is this new service only for mobile, or a standard service ? In the document it also calls it SAP Cloud Integration (CI) which is a confusing name as easily confused with continuous integration.
Request clarification before answering.
Hey David Clavey, long time
1. SAP Cloud Platform Mobile Services (Mobile Services) is one of the categories under SAP Cloud Platform service offerings. And this Mobile Service for development and operations is one of members from that categories. well, that is only one now , others are gone .
You can consider SAP Cloud Platform Mobile Service for development and operations as SAP Cloud Platform Mobile Services. However, there are different SCPms editions like (standard, preview, B2C), read here for detailshttps://blogs.sap.com/2017/09/08/understanding-difference-between-productive-vs-preview-edition-of-s...
2. SAP Cloud Platform Integration service provides capabilities to convert non-OData sources (REST, SOAP etc) into OData and also mash-up among them. (similar capabilities you might have seen as part of Integration Gateway in on-premise SAP Mobile Platform). You can leverage that newly created OData service directly from SAP CPms.
In the document it also calls it SAP Cloud Integration (CI) which is a confusing name as easily confused with continuous integration.
Can you please share document link so that i can look and reach out to right person for this ?
Regards,
JK
P.S. You know how good products naming have been.
