SMP 3.0 Server - Change in URL for SAP Management Cockpit and SAP Gateway Cockpit

Hello....

I am trying to change the default URL of SAP Management Cockpit  ( smpprod:8083/Admin/) and SAP Gateway Cockpit smpprod:8083/gateway/cockpit)  with new suffix for example : SAP Management Cockpit  ( smpprod-1:8083/Admin/) .

Is it possible to change through some file which has been created after installation SMP 3.0 SP7 Server ?

SMP management cockpit &  GW management cockpit URL should be like:

https://FQDN:adminport/Admin

https://FQDN:adminport/gateway/cockpit

Where FQDN: Fully qualified domain name (system host name where SMP server has been installed)

Admin port: 8083 (in your case)

Do you want to change system host name? What exactly you trying to do?

I have installed SMP Server on one of the VM (machine name - SMPPROD) and then took snapshot template of this VM and created a another VM  with this snapshot template with VM machine name SMPPROD-1.

Now when I am trying launch SAP Management Cockpit and SAP Gateway Cockpit on second  vm where deployed snapshot template , it is still directing to smpprod:8083/...

I have even changed entries in host file but still it pointing to same URL.

Any suggestion to change this FQDN in URL so that it can point to smpprod-1:8083/...?

Hi Javed,

If I understand correctly, after you renamed the machine you can administer the server by navigating to the new management and cockpit URLs, but the shortcuts installed on the desktop still attempt to open the old URLs (with the original host name).

The shortcuts appear to be directed to whatever the appropriate URL would have been at install time (when they were created). If this is the issue you are experiencing, you should be able to resolve this by right-clicking the shortcut, selecting “Properties”, and changing the target from the shortcut tab.

From:

"%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" https://<old-fqdn>:<admin-port>/Admin/

To:

"%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" https://<new-fqdn>:<admin-port>/Admin/
