Hello All,
While configuring the SFTP adapter in PI7.4, can we use a web based address of the SFTP server instead of the actual IP address of the SFTP server in the SERVER field??
Is this a feasible option??
Thanks,
Regards,
Nilambari
Hi Nilambari
What do you mean by "web-based address"? Do you mean hostname, i.e. myserver.mycompany.com? If yes, then the answer is you can. It's not compulsory to use the numeric-based IP address only.

Hi Nilambari
It looks like the hostname is not recognized by your DNS server. You might need to get your Basis team to check on this.
The easiest way is to logon to the OS of the PI server and do a ping command:
ping myserver.mycompany.com
If it does not work, then try to ping using the IP address directly.
If ping by IP is successful but ping by hostname is not, then you need to get your network team to sort out the hostname resolution by the DNS server.
Or alternatively ask Basis to add the hostname resolution using a host file.
