Service definition via Sybase Central

In Windows, the services tab is available from Sybase Central what does not seem to be the case under Linux (Ubuntu) for a standard 12.0.1 installation.

Is this somehow related to the options selected when SA 12.0.1 was first installed or is it only available for Windows?

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (64-bit)
SA 12.0.1.3723

Sybase Central can only be used to monitor Windows Services. See: http://dcx.sybase.com/index.html#1201/en/dbadmin/newsv.html

Linux services created by dbsvc are really scripts in the /etc/init.d directory and SQL Anywhere services can be started/stopped with these scripts:

e.g.

/etc/init.d/SA_myserv start
/etc/init.d/SA_myserv status
/etc/init.d/SA_myserv stop

Actually, the reason to have Sybase Central available is to allow for maintenance plans to be reviewed/maintained. Currently in Windows users have setup email notifications for the backup/purge process but often they use SC to check/adjust their maintenance plan settings. Would dbisql be the only way for users to check the events & plans in a Linux server?

"Maintenance Plans" are internal database events created by Sybase Central underneath the "Maintenance Plans" tree item once connected to the database. These are not related to services that are defined on the operating system to run the database server and can be reviewed via Sybase Central (in Windows).

You should also be able to see the underlying events for the Maintenance Plans by viewing them through the Events tab.
