Hello SAPUI5 Team,
today I was pointed by SAP support to an interresting addition to the SAPUI5 Documentation. Starting with SAPUI5 1.105 the sentence:
"If you want to build an app using CAP and SAP Fiori elements, you need to create an OData V4 CAP service. OData V2 CAP service is currently not supported."
was added to the page Prerequisites for Using SAP Fiori Elements. When you check earlier versions of this page e.g. for 1.104 Prerequisites for Using SAP Fiori Elements this sentence is missing. As this addition basically cut's off support for using OData V2 Services provided by the @sap/cds-odata-v2-adapter-proxy module I would expect a mentioning in the What's New in SAPUI5 1.105 page. But can't find anything related.
Right now there are still gaps when using OData V4 endpoints with Fiori Elements:
So can the CAP / UI5 / Fiori Elements community please get a statement about this newly introduced limitation?
Best Regards
Gregor

Request clarification before answering.
We support OData V2 CAP services for SAPUI5 applications. While you do not need to migrate existing applications, future limitations of this combination of CAP and SAP Fiori elements floorplans for OData V2 will not be addressed through enhancements, and issues support will also be limited.
SAP guidance for creating new applications is to use OData V4 services.

Hi suneet.agarwal,
is there any information available how long Fiori Elements for OData V2 will be supported? As mentioned there are several gaps in Fiori Elements for OData V4 and my expectation would be that those gaps would be closed, before support for Fiori Elements for OData V2 would be dropped.
Kind regards,
Sebastian
