Just thought I'd copy/paste (without hyperlinks) from the email I received this morning that I'm sure others did as well...

SAP SQL Anywhere Forum Is Migrating to SAP Community

We'll be shutting down the SAP SQL Anywhere forum in June and moving its questions and answers to SAP Community. Learn what you need to do to prepare for this migration.

Dear Reader,

You're receiving this message because you are a member of the SAP SQL Anywhere forum, and we want you to be aware of important upcoming changes that will affect you.

We'll be shutting down this forum in June and moving its content to SAP Community, as the forum duplicates the Q&A functionality already available in SAP Community. The questions and answers from the SAP SQL Anywhere forum will be added to SAP Community with the SAP SQL Anywhere tag, as SAP Managed Tags are the primary method for helping community members find the content that interests them.

We won't be migrating badges and reputation from the SAP SQL Anywhere forum, but you will be able to earn new badges and ranks via the SAP Community gamification system. And your forum content will be added to your SAP Community content at migration, as long as you've created an SAP Universal ID that includes the email address associated with your user profile for the SAP SQL Anywhere forum.

If you've not done so already, you'll need to sign up for SAP Community by creating an SAP Universal ID. (You can learn more about SAP Universal ID on this site, and you can get support on this site.) When creating your SAP Universal ID, make sure to include the email address associated with your user profile for the SAP SQL Anywhere forum. That way your SAP SQL Anywhere forum content can be added to your SAP Community content at migration.

Once you've established your SAP Universal ID, you can sign up for SAP Community.

If you already have an SAP Universal ID and you're a member of SAP Community, then your forum content will be added to your community content automatically at migration -- just as long as your SAP Universal ID includes the email address associated with your user profile for the SAP SQL Anywhere forum.

While we're still months away from the migration -- and we'll be sending reminders prior to the migration date -- we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the SAP Community now. These resources will help you get started, showing you how to ask and answer questions on the SAP Community platform, subscribe to SAP Managed Tags (such as SAP SQL Anywhere), and more: • FAQ • What's New • How-To Videos

We look forward to making the SAP SQL Anywhere forum part of SAP Community, and we hope that you'll continue to participate in our new home.

Best regards,

SAP Community team

I have received that mail, too, and - well, the first attempt to establish a SQL Anywhere community in SCN (the former SAP Community) several years ago was a really dissatisfying experience for several active forum users. It felt like a huge step back. (I added the "scn" tag for reference.) Additionally, a lot of my personal community content there was deleted during later migrations. So I don't currently expect myself to "looking forward"...

I surely miss Breck's opinion here. (To be fair, I miss him anyway.)

I fully agree.

Yesterday I spent 1,5 hours to figure out how to be able to only get SQL Anywhere related messages. I gave up. Besides the personal community content that is missing even the latest questions are not even in there.

Really disappointing!!!

FWIW, here's the link to the SAP Community with the "SAP SQL Anywhere" managed tag - see what you get:

Thanks, I will save the link, but assume it won't be long before SAP will change something so we cannot find it anymore, again.

This is really bad news. This forum was set up because the SAP offering was unworkable for SQL Anywhere users.

Interestingly, I've not had that email, though I do get endless emails / alerts from SAP about all sorts of stuff I've not registered an interest in and that has no SQL Anywhere relevance.

Well what I get, amongst other things, are under My Posts, some posts in Portuguese, which I never realised I could speak!

Unfortunelty, searching the SAP Community based on SAP Managed Tags is currently having issues for all tage, not just SAP Anywhere. Once this is addressed, the following should work properly :

  1. From https://community.sap.com/, click on “Products and Technology” at the top of the page, then select “All SAP Managed Tags”.
  2. You are taken to https://community.sap.com/t5/all-sap-managed-tags/ct-p/managed-tags
  3. On this page, keep scrolling until you find the “SAP SQL Anywhere” link and click on it.
    1. This will take you to the page that will show you all content tagged with the "SAP SQL Anywhere" SAP Managed tag.
    2. This page can be bookmarked.

All of the content migrated from this forum will include the "SAP SQL Anywhere" SAP Managed tag.

Reg, thanks for the clarification.

Is the mentioned bookmark identical to the link in my comment above?

FWIW, on that page (apparently personalized for my account), there's the following top entry on the "My Posts" section (from 2016!):

I guess I will need to repost the question again... 😕

Yes. It's been my experience that the link has not changed in over a year, but I can understand given the format of the URL that you don't get a warm fuzzy feeling that this is a permanent link.

This forum was set up because the SAP offering was unworkable for SQL Anywhere users.

IIRC, Breck has created the original SQLA (on StackExchange) in 2009 as an alternative to the former NNTP newsgroups. That apparently was way before the SAP Sybase merger.

Very fortunately for us customers the SAP Anywhere team followed the Golden Rule aka "Watcom Does Things The Way They Should Be Done." and fully supported the forum and hosted it on company servers. - Well, those were the days. 😕

Even noticeable without the means of Forum Admin SQL Super Powers - via users/sort by oldest: 🙂

Not happy about this AT ALL!

Is there a reason we ol' Sybase users can't set up our own workable forum?

Yes, I got two emails from SAP Sapphire??? today at 09:55 and 10:15

Wow, I notice these, too - do I have to assume "Your Posts are My Posts"?

...and the relevance to this thread is?

So is that what we have to expect within the great SAP Community:

Questions like these with no apparent connection to SQL Anywhere except that the user might have thought it has to do with "SQL anyhow"...?

Hm, I'm expecting a disappointing signal to noise ratio...
