Hi Experts,

We have implemented SAP MDG to one of our client as hub model .

Now, Our client is seeking to upgrade SAP ECC system to S/4 HANA Keeping the MDG hub System intact.

Is there any precautions needs to be taken before we upgrade the SAP System to HANA with respect to system integration and data replication from MDG HUB?

and also ,is there any Key benefits on Migrating SAP MDG on ECC to SAP MDG on HANA?

Hello Arun.

which MDG data models are you using in your MDG Hub?

If your MDG is on ECC and target is on S/4 then you would need to be aware of the changes functionally for those maters in S/4.

e.g- in Material Master, Material ledger is mandataory in S/4 ,so in your hub too you would need to activate it, to send Accounting dtaa to Target system. Some fields on ECC are no longer in S/4 so you should not maintain those fields via MDG & not replicate them to S/4 - these are fields like MRP at storage location level , some fields of Foreign Trade View of Material matser etc.

Thus functionally too there is an impact on the data that you should now send to Target system which is S/4.

If your target is being upgraded to S/4 , it would make sense to upgarde MDG hub too.

Best regards,

SAP MDGv9.2 system

Cost center master data is replicated to S/4 HANA via Web Services Replication; to ECC via Data Hub

Cost center group and cost center hierarchy assignments are not replicated to S/4 HANA nor ECC; hierarchy requires manual maintenance in S/4 HANA or ECC
