SAP GUI client 7.5 - DENY button

Hi,

We have discovered the following issue. Can someone advise if you have seen this issue.

When a pdf is generated in the SAP GUI client and the user opts to 'print preview' , there is a prompt asking them permission to modify the parent directory (pic above) -if the user clicks on 'Deny' button then a http string 'abo' is sent across by the SAP GUI Client. Has anyone seen this? Can some one throw light on this?

Thank you for visiting SAP Community to get answers to your questions. Since you're asking a question here for the first time, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with https://community.sap.com/resources/questions-and-answers (if you haven't already), as it provides tips for preparing questions that draw responses from our members.

Should you wish, you can revise your question by selecting Actions, then Edit (although once someone answers your question, you'll lose the ability to edit the question -- but if that happens, you can leave more details in a comment).

Finally, if you're hoping to connect with readers, please consider adding a picture to your profile. Here's how you do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5JdUbyjfMA&list=PLpQebylHrdh5s3gwy-h6RtymfDpoz3vDS. By personalizing your profile with a photo of you, you encourage readers to respond.

Hello Sugu,
as I pointed out in my comment above, the approach suggested above is not the right one.
1) When SAP GUI encounters a security relevant event (like downloading a file to some non-standard location like in your example above), SAP GUI will ask the user what to do.

2) The administrator can define a set of rules which allow or deny certain actions on the client. The user himself / herself can also define rules by using the "Remember my decision" checkbox (see your screenshot).

3) In some cases when for example the directory is not static ("Temp\14" sounds as if this might get a new name every download), it is required to define a security rule with a placeholder which makes it valid for all subfolders.

You should check out the SAP GUI Security Guide for more information:

Hi Sugu.

From the SAPGUI option you can disable the security option as mentioned below screenshot, So that it will not ask any pop-up

Hello SS,

I am sorry, but I must tell you very openly that you should not provide this kind of answer without clearly telling what the impact of this is. With the setting above, the SAP GUI Security Module is turned off which allows attacks from compromised systems against the client PC.

This is definitely not the right approach.

Best regards,
Frank

Hi vnasugu,

should be a normal behaviour, as far as I can see...

if the user wants a print preview, he/she should not deny the pop-up, simply 'Allow' it and flag the 'Remember my Decision'; one time action, that's it.

Hope this could help
