I expect a logon page to appear. Please suggest what is going wrong. Anything missed out during installation? Any notes to be applied?

thank you !

Hello Mario,

Please check the following KBAs:

1935486 NetWeaver Portal 7.3X/7.4 and custom logon screens

1936725 How to: Reverting to the standard authschemes.xml in NetWeaver 7.3X and 7.4 Systems

J2EE Engine Applications should be listed as J2EE-APPS on your system Component Info.

Ciou Cristiano,

i searched for authschemes.xml but that xml not exist on my libs.I'm running that portal only as a switch between BW and the primary portal. I have not modified any logonscreens on that portal.

what i found meanwhile ist that there are problems starting following components:

and the log shows:

java.rmi.RemoteException: Unable to start service
'com.sap.aii.af.cpa.svc'. Reported reason: Could not initialize CPA cache
service; reason: com.sap.aii.af.service.cpa.impl.exception.CPACacheException:

FROM "XI_AF_CPA_IFCE_DET"" contains the semantics error[s]: - 1:74 - the column
>>SEQUENCE_NBR<< is undefined in the current scope
I addes the "missing" field to the tab XI_AF_CPA_IFCE_DET but it not changed the error message.

and one more service is not started:

Hi Mario,

I don't know what could be causing the CPA Cache service not to start.

Regarding the portal theme service:

Have you already checked your system component info? Check what I wrote to seventyros about sap note 1757810.

Search the defaultTrace files for com.sap.portal.themes.lafservice
and lafservice. Hopefully there will be a trace telling what caused it to fail.

If you don't find anything, shut down your
system, remove all defaultTrace files and start it back up. Check if the
service is still not started, if it's not started, check the new defaultTrace files
again.

Hi Cristiano

news from sap. they ask me to apply 1630240 but again it not changed a lot.

the difference now ist that i got an error instaed of a blank page.

now sap i guess in india ask me why i have 7.31 mixed between

like for ENGINEAPI

ENGINEAPI

sap.com

SAP

AG

1000.7.31.1.0.20111025192700

EP-ADMIN

sap.com

SAP

AG

1000.7.30.11.2.20140428025000

EP-BASIS

sap.com

SAP

AG

1000.7.30.11.3.20140430010500

EP-BASIS-API

sap.com

SAP

AG

1000.7.30.11.1.20140313083300

EP-CONNECTIVITY

sap.com

SAP

AG

1000.7.30.11.1.20140318074300

EP-RUNTIME

But what should i say that's what i got from that solman!

And all applied perfekt, no errors during SUM.

So i guess 7.31 is NOT an ERROR but a part of that stack.

Lso i searched all my disk for engineapi but all i can find is 7.30 sca's

so it may dropped out of space?

I cannot belive.

tkx again

Hi Mario,

Unfortunatly the ENGINEAPI component is one of the
most important software components from Java Engine and it is very likely that
it is the cause of the issue. In fact all Java Engine and NW Portal Software
component must be on the same version, unless an SAP Consultant or SAP Note
says otherwise.

Regarding why you ended up with this SW
Component on a different release. It might have been an error in Solution Manager.
SolMan creates a Stack XML file right? Maybe on that stack file we can see if
it is set to use 7.31 Software components. But I'm not a SolMan specialist…

I don't know if it is possible to safely undeploy
that software component and install it on the right version…

Guys, you cant rely on MOPZ  at all, according to my basis colleagues. We had many appropriate problems already.

Hi Seventyros,

It could be a case of a deployment error occurred during the installation.

Which NW Version are you using?

If you are able access the /nwa url and get the logon screen, have a look at the system component info. All Java and Portal Software Components must be on the same SP level.

Sometimes applying the latest patch level for the Java Engine and Portal software components solve the issue.

Checking the defaultTrace files might help as well to identify the cause.

1.Log in to the portal using the following url http://<hostname>:<portno>/nwa

Navigate to  NWA -> Monitoring-> Logs and Traces -> from the dropdown select default trace.

2. If we have the O.S level credentials then all trace information is written to file defaultTrace.trc in directory \usr\sap\<SID>\JC<InstNo>\j2ee\cluster\server<n>\log on the J2EE Server.

Could you please trace your network traffic, for any GETs to the portal e.g.? Did you modified/inspected your logon page settings in the NWA?

What errors did you saw on the defaultTrace files? Please provide us a sample.

The portal on which this issue is appearing is a sandbox portal and not production. So does checking network traffic make sense ? if yes, pls let me know where and how to check that ?

I did not modify logon page settings in NWA. The issue is appearing in a fresh installation

Very strange. This is looking like a deployment error for me.

Please check the component info for missing or Software components on different SPs. SAP Note 1757810 - How to get the complete list of software components on your NetWeaver Application Server Java tells you how to get the component info.

If you have a 7.X system here are the components that must be on the same SP:

ENGINEAPI

EP-ADMIN

EP-APPS-EXT

EP-BASIS

EP-BASIS-API

EP-CONNECTIVITY

EP-CONNECTIVITY-EXT

EP-MODELING

EP-RUNTIME

EP-WPC

EP_BUILDT

FRAMEWORK

FRAMEWORK-EXT

J2EE-APPS

J2EE-FRMW

SERVERCORE

UMEADMIN

This Note will help you identify the SP and Patch levels of each component: 1771843 - How to identify and search the latest patch level for a Netweaver Java Component

shouldnt help. can u share the default trace??

this issue generally comes if you upgrade from old version of portal to new, as the old login module based on .par file gets squashed.

Hi Seventyros,

- Is there html code you can check (view source)?

- What does the portal log tell you? (/nwa)

- Which version do you use exactly?

Cheers,

Noel

hi Noel,

HTML  from view source does not have anything significant

html><head><title>SAP&#x20;NetWeaver&#x20;Portal</title><meta HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=UTF-8"></head><body class="prtlBody urFontBaseFam urScrl"> body></html>

logs in nwa also not clues there. Actually no log generated when url  http://<hostname>:50000/irj/portal is run

We are on 7.4 version of EP

thank you !
