I have a question about the SAP CAL appliance template.
Is it possible to already use the "S/4HANA 2023 FPS02, Fully-Activated Appliance" that was released yesterday, December 16th?

The 2024 release plan announced in 2023 was supposed to be "Fiori configuration only."

2024 Release Plan:

If anyone has the latest information, please let me know.

Dear YO-YO ,

There are two separate offerings in the SAP Cloud Appliance Library catalogue from Q4 2024:

  • One appliance template with pre-configured and activated SAP S/4HANA Fiori UI, named “SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS02” ( link )
  • And another appliance template with pre-activated SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA and demo data and scenarios on top, named “SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS02, Fully-Activated Appliance” ( link )

You can take a look at their description and getting started guides (both can be found following the links provided above) to gain a better understanding of what each template brings and decide which will suit your needs best.

Best regards,

Tsvetinka

Hi, one more question - is there a way to set this up as a separate windows app server and linux db server instead of a central instance on linux? I can't seem to find any information on whether this is possible or not. Cheers, James

@jbungay, the appliance can only be deployed on Linux. Edit: there might be a way to get a custom app server running on WIndows (without using the appliance files) but that's pretty much trial&error. If you have a Linux box with HANA running, just add the app server to it as well (performance will not go down significantly).

Best, Joerg
