SAC live BW Query variable not applying from URL

Hi gurus,

I am working with SAC in a BW live connection environment. I wonder whether it is possible to configure the URL to input the variable values for the BW query prompt I use in the SAC story.

I have tried checking this forum, but it's not clear to me whether it is only possible with variables set in the SAC model or if it is possible with the variables from the BW query itself.

https://community.sap.com/t5/technology-q-a/query-variable-not-applying-from-url/qaq-p/12698172

I've tried it, and I have not been able to do it. I would like to know if it's technically not possible to input values in the URL for a BW query, so I can stop testing :).

Best regards,

Hello @playaben82,

Filling variables of BW query is possible with URL parameter. We are using it in several cases without any problems. Check out SAC help to see how it works.

Best regards

Lothar

Hi, thank you for your answer. But in the specific case of BW queries with live connections, have you tried? Is there any technical requirement? I'm using mandatory variables, and the pop-up always appears without the variables being prefilled. Could it be that the SAP help refers to passing variables to specific variables created on the model and not on a BW Query? It's a bit frustrating. Likewise, I have stories with many models and variables, and the URL would be huge and complicated. The only problem with using another solution, like a hyperlink, is that it would require a redesign of what I have so far. Thanks again.

Hi, I tried with BW variables. In the following examples I use three BW queries in which I define one variable per model. v0xModel is the model ID, v0xPar is the technical name of the variable, v0xVal is the value to be set. The URL I use (yyyy is your own tenant name, xxxx the tenant ID) is: https://yyyy.eu10.sapanalytics.cloud/sap/fpa/ui/tenants/xxxxx/app.html#;view_id=story;storyId=8CB7B4...

Ok Finally...I could fill out the values in the prompt with this combination: https://TENANT.cloud.sap/sap/fpa/ui/app.html#/story2&/s2/ID_STORY/?v02Val=VALUE_VARIABLE2&v02Par=ID_... ID_MODEL1&mode=view Two models with two mandatory variables. I guess that with mandatory variables It is not possible to skip the initial prompt screen once the values have been reported. the user must click on set the values. Thanks Lothar Thanks for answering that it is possible.
