Running BI7 and BW 3.5 on the same system

Dear All,

We have a BW 3.5 already running. Now the client wants to go for BI7 and wanted to evaluate the possibility of having BI7 and BW3.5 on the same server. If anybody come across this situation, please let me know the risks involved in having two bw versions on a single host.

Hi,

1) SAP Backword version compatability.

2) if you upgrate 3.5 to 7.0 still it will work 3.5 contents.

3) SAP 7.0 version SAP added additional advantages

1) Back end

DTP & Transfermations .. etc

(Basically SAP converted all programs into OOPs

ABAP OOP's... etc)

2) Front end

Like Defult portal - BI Java componets

Usege type ABAP

Dear Kishore,

Thanks for the input. I would like to know whether we can have two clients on a single server one will be 3.5 and the other would be BI7. As the client do not want to disturb the existing setup and would continue on the same without upgrade. And they will bring the new BI7 into picture on a new client.

If anybody come across this situation please help in giving the inputs.

Virtualization...

Use VMWare, Xen,... to install a 3.X system and a 7.0 system.

They operate independently.

Do not do this on a PRD environment.
