Hi Gurus,
We are using BW 7.0 version. I m trying to create a query basing on two Virtual Characteristics. But, when I am doing this the Query check is generating an Error saying RSR_BAD_CODING error. These virtual characteristics are not new on the Cube. These were existing in the earlier version also. I felt after the upgrade the problem might had arised. Is this a Note problem? Do we have any OSS Note to be applied on the UserExit (which will populate the data at runtime for Virtual Characteristics). When I dont use these characteristics, the query works fine.
Any help on this is appreciated.
Thanks
Kishore

Hi Kishore,
Unicode checks on CMOD code might be raising this error Or May need some support patches to be installed. Gone through OSS but couldn't find any notes for BI7.0.

Hi Ramesh,
I am still stuck up with this issue. I am trying to find out some OSS notes as this might be a stabilization issue after the upgrade had happend. You have suggested me to check the Unicode on CMOD. Can you please be clear on what you are exactly suggesting me to do ?
Thanks

Hi Kishore,
All the code you write in BI7.0 should be unicode compatible, where as in previous versions of BW it is optional. I believe some piece of code involved in your virtual characteristics logic is not unicode compatible. Please check the syntax of the CMOD program, and modify accordingly. This is one possibility for BAD_CODING error.

Ramesh
Hi Ramesh,
I have checked our System here in the System->Status->Unicode System -> No. So, now it is clear that our's is not a Unicode System. Ours is BW 7 with patch level 7. If you have any idea then please let me know what patches might be needed to be apply to overcome this error.
Thanks for your help so far.
Thanks
Kishore Kusupati
